The body lifted off.
Original “D” Type gearbox overhauled by VBE.

The Bobtail steering column is lower and 2 inches longer than standard.
VBE’s task was to overhaul all mechanical aspects recording all the original and subsequent modifications, correct some “errors” and preserve patina.
The complete nose to tail conservation & overhaul of this priceless car has been entrusted to VBE Restorations. Previously restored by Tony Townsend in the early 1960s the car had hardly been touched in over 40 years.
Only items that were beyond repair were replaced, and many hitherto unrecorded “works” modifications were documented. VBE staff put the finishing touches to the Bobtail in 2009.
Note that the car even retains its original registration plates.
